Published self-pay prices
Two manufacturers publish direct self-pay pricing for their weight-care products. These are list self-pay prices for people paying without insurance, not negotiated or insured rates.
| Product | Channel | Published self-pay range | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zepbound (tirzepatide) | LillyDirect self-pay pharmacy | $299–$449 per month depending on presentation | Eli Lilly |
| Wegovy (semaglutide) | NovoCare Pharmacy self-pay | $149–$499 per month depending on offer status and presentation | Novo Nordisk |
The cost layers most price pages leave out
| Cost layer | What it covers | Why it is easy to miss |
|---|---|---|
| Medication | The drug itself, per fill | Advertised prices often assume a specific presentation or a savings offer |
| Consultation or visit fee | The clinician visit that makes a prescription possible | Sometimes bundled for month one, then billed separately |
| Program or membership fee | Coaching, app access, messaging | Frequently a recurring charge independent of medication |
| Shipping and handling | Cold-chain delivery | Waived on the first order in many launch offers |
| Labs | Baseline or follow-up bloodwork if requested | Often billed by a third-party lab, not the program |
| Refill cadence changes | Price changes when supply, presentation or savings status changes | The month-one price is not always the month-six price |
Working out your real monthly number
- 1.Write down the advertised price and exactly what it includes for month one.
- 2.Ask what the same total is in month four, after any introductory offer ends.
- 3.Add the visit or program fee, whether it is bundled or separate.
- 4.Add shipping, and check whether it is waived only on the first order.
- 5.Add labs if the program requests them, and ask who bills you for them.
- 6.Ask what changes the price: presentation, supply, or losing savings-offer eligibility.
Our cost calculator does this arithmetic for you and shows the twelve-month total rather than the month-one headline.
Questions worth asking any program
- Is this price per month or per fill, and how many fills are in a month?
- What is the cancellation policy, and is any part of the fee non-refundable?
- Is the medication FDA-approved, or compounded?
- Will you tell me the price before each refill ships?
- What happens to my price if I pause for a month?
Truvela does not prescribe, dispense or provide medical advice. We publish what things cost, where the numbers come from, and when we checked.
Frequently asked questions
- How much does GLP-1 weight-care treatment cost per month?
- Manufacturer self-pay prices published in August 2026 range from about $149 to $499 per month depending on the product, presentation and savings-offer status. Visit fees, program fees, shipping and labs are usually separate.
- Why is the advertised price lower than what I get billed?
- Advertised prices typically describe the medication alone, often under an introductory or savings-offer condition. Consultation fees, recurring program fees, shipping and labs are commonly billed on top.
- Does insurance cover GLP-1 weight-care treatment?
- Coverage varies by plan and employer. Your plan documents and your insurer's published price files are the authoritative answer for your specific policy.
- Are cash-pay prices ever lower than going through insurance?
- Sometimes. If a plan applies a high deductible or excludes weight-care medication, a manufacturer self-pay price can be lower than the insured cost. Compare both totals for the same product.
